The Private Security Industry Regulatory Authority (PSiRA) is the State Owned Entity mandated by the Private Security Industry Regulation Act 56 of 2001, to manage all aspects of the private security industry in South Africa. Without PSiRA, a private security contractor is operating outside the law.
If you want to work in Private Security in South Africa – Yes. The qualification is a prerequisite for all, including locksmiths, car-guards, installers and manufacturers of security equipment and operations room dispatchers. Any work that is remunerated for providing security will fall under the PSiRA mandate.
To qualify the applicant must:
- Be at least 18 years old
- Be a permanent South African resident
- Not have a criminal record
- Have completed training at a PSiRA accredited training center.
To register through Willshir Training applicants are required to:
- Complete an application form
- Pay the registration fee
- Upload supporting documentation
- Claim your PSiRA profile online
- Collect your PSiRA card at a regional PSiRA office
Interested applicants should apply online by creating a profile and electing the preferred course or courses they are interested in.
Once we have received proof of payment the portal will be accessible to the student.

All accounts must be settled in full to access the learning material. Dates for the examinations will be communicated accordingly
Prospective students can pay through an electronic fund transfer (EFT) or through the payment portal using Yoco Pay
Dates and venues for the various satellite exam centers will be communicated via email to the student. If the student is unable to attend the exam for a valid reason the student is required to contact us and arrange a subsequent date.
